We’re excited to introduce Simone, one of the passionate facilitators behind our Cowork Coplay programs. With a background spanning events and finance, Simone thrives in collaborative environments where people, ideas, and purpose intersect.

Now working as a Cowork Coplay Program Facilitator with Human Quotient Group, Simone brings her natural ability to connect with others into programs designed to support Defence and veteran spouses and strengthen community networks. She’s particularly motivated by initiatives that help families navigate the unique experiences of Defence life. Whether she’s planning events, delivering programs, or simply offering a listening ear, Simone is driven by the belief that everyone deserves to feel seen, supported, and empowered.

Simone was also the recent recipient of the NT Veteran Community Partner Employee of the Year at the 2026 Chief Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Defence Industry.

What's exciting about Defence industry or the veteran community right now?

While I’m not employed directly in Defence industry, I’m excited to see the ways Defence and community organisations support families, particularly through events and expos that help them navigate the unique challenges of Defence life. I really enjoy being part of initiatives that make a meaningful difference to the community.”

What is the one thing you wish people knew about your job?

The amount of back-end work that goes into creating and delivering community based programs.“

Simone is a Cowork Coplay Program Facilitator who brings people together through programs and events that support Defence spouses and families. She also leads our free events in Darwin, creating spaces for connection, learning and community across the veteran network.

If you could name one thing you’d like to see in 2026, what would it be?

Cowork Coplay programs all over the country helping Defence spouses and the veteran community.”

What's your best tip for great work-life balance?

Don’t check emails on the weekends.”

What do you do to unwind & find calm?

To unwind and find calm I love to exercise every night if I get the chance and prioritise sleep.

Your proudest professional accomplishment?

My proudest professional accomplishment to date has been facilitating my first program with Human Quotient Group. Having never facilitated before, I stepped well outside my comfort zone and overcame significant nerves to successfully deliver the program. Completing it not only strengthened my confidence and presentation skills but also reinforced my passion for supporting others’ growth. I’m now excited to build on that experience as I move into round two with more confidence.”

What has been your theme song for this year?

“This one is tricky; I love a lot of different genres of music, I might go with a country remix which is ‘Fast Car’ by Luke Combs, it’s just a great easy listening song.”

What are you grateful for today?

My kids didn’t cry at drop off!”

What's on your bucket list?

Currently on my bucket list… A LOT… but travelling with friends is up there.

What's the strangest thing that's happened to you on a job in your career?

I poured a guy a beer while working on NYE 2014/2015, fast forward 11 years and we are married with 2 kids. Not sure if that is very strange or just a fun story.”

What do you think makes our team culture unique?

That we live all over the country and still have such a fun time when we come together once a year.”

What advice would you give to someone considering a career change or just starting out their professional journey?

Go for it! I did and now I work for HQG and it’s great.”

Supporting the veteran community

Simone’s work is grounded in connection, collaboration, and creating spaces where people feel supported. Her experience across events and finance gives her a strong foundation for developing programs that bring people together and deliver meaningful outcomes.

By stepping outside her comfort zone to facilitate her first Cowork Coplay program, Simone discovered a passion for helping others build confidence and pursue their goals. She now brings that same encouragement and enthusiasm into every program she supports.
