At Human Quotient Group, we believe our strength lies in our people — those who combine lived experience with integrity, curiosity and a commitment to delivering outcomes that matter.

In this edition of The Human Element, we’re spotlighting Pete Nagle. With a calm, practical approach and deep logistics expertise, Pete brings clarity, collaboration and purpose to every challenge he takes on.

From Navy chef to Capability Specialist

Pete’s career journey spans from the kitchens to logistics operations and into the Defence industry. Starting out as a Navy chef, he quickly identified his aptitude for logistics and operational delivery. That early experience forged a strong foundation in discipline, teamwork, and tempo-skills that propelled him into the demanding world of logistics capability development.

With over 15 years’ experience spanning Navy service and Defence industry, Pete now brings deep expertise across integrated logistics support, sustainment management and supply chain optimisation. His work underpins capability delivery across some of Defence’s most technically complex programs, ensuring systems are not only delivered, but supported, sustained and effective through life.

Beyond work, Pete is a self-confessed lover of anything with wheels, engines and adventure. From skiing and surfing to mountain biking around the world, he brings the same curiosity and momentum to life as he does to his work.

Team work and collaboration or bringing new tech into service.”

w

What's your best tip for great work-life balance?

“Leave it at the door! Easier said than done, but I try to dump my work thoughts at each of the doorways as I am leaving the office. That way I also know where I left those thoughts and can pick them up on my return.”

“I like to plan a date with my wife; we go to the day spa, have lunch and watch a movie at least twice a year.”

What has been your theme song for this year?

“Ludacris, Get Back! Banging tune and my current anthem.”

“Being hired as an Integrated Logistics Support Manager. It has taken a lot of time and effort to transition from a logistics operator to develop the skill to be in logistics capability development and lead a team.”

w

What’s one thing you are grateful for in your work/life?

“I am grateful for the people I have around me, both personally and professionally. Without everyone’s support, I wouldn’t be where I am or have the confidence.”

w

What do you think makes our team culture unique?

“Support, understanding and EQ.”

w

What advice would you give to someone considering a career change or just starting out their professional journey?

“This is a good question I find myself thinking about a lot. Understand what it is you want to achieve and why. Find out what the journey is and make a plan on how you might achieve it. Most importantly, speak to your spouse, kids or whoever you have for personal support, you will need them.”

w

What advice would you give to a current-serving ADF member or veteran considering their next employment steps outside of ADF service?

“I’d recommend they do an ADF transition seminar and have a goal for what they want from being out. It’s good to do research to understand the significant milestones that lay ahead without the ADF. Professionally, seek out mentors and ask them to be a mentor, seek out further education to reach that goal. I like having a 2-year goal, 5-year goal and 10-year goal.”
