Insights from Dani
What's exciting about the Defence industry right now?
“Defence industry is especially exciting right now as it continues to grow, particularly with the shipbuilding programs and major upgrades happening here in Adelaide where I’m now based. After 20 years in the Navy, I transitioned into the Defence industry because I wanted to remain in the sector and keep contributing in a different capacity.”
What is the one thing you wish people knew about your job?
“People don’t always realise how much behind‑the‑scenes planning, coordination, and problem‑solving goes into every Defence project—it’s far more than what you see on the surface.“

What has been your theme song for this year?

What’s currently on your bucket list?
“We took the kids to Europe this year to watch a few football games—a bucket list experience for me. Even if they won’t remember it all, we created plenty of amazing memories together.”
What do you think makes our team culture unique?

“My advice is to do what makes you happy—choose a path that genuinely interests you and gives you a sense of purpose.”
What advice would you give veterans leaving the ADF?
“It’s a big step, but one I look back on knowing I made the right decision. Veterans bring a wide range of transferable skills that align strongly with the Defence industry, so back yourself and explore the opportunities—it can be a very rewarding next chapter.”
